Jamnagar town the place caters for all needs of a normal township. The local people are friendly and traditional business is their prime vocation. The city has many oil mills, chemical units, steel factorys, woollen cloth mills, soda ash units, engineering and brass parts manufacturing units. Jamnagar's locally made Brassware and Bandhni Sarees (Tie & Dye) are famous for it's unique craft.
Lakhota Lake In the centre of old Jamnagar, on an island, are located two magnificent old structures, the Lakhota Fort, in middle of the Lake and Bhujia Kotha near by the Lake. Lakhota Fort is Jamnagar,s Museum and its terraces display a fine collection of sculpture that spans from a period of the 9th Century to the 18th Century.
Hanuman Sankirtan Mandir. This temple located near Lakhota Lake has acquired worldwide fame for the continuous chanting of "Ram Dhun."M This marathon singing session, which started on 31 Jul 1964, has found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records under the column "singing".
Pratap Vilas. A beautiful palace inspired by the 'Victoria Memorial' of Calcutta with beautiful traditional carvings of birds, animals, creepers and plants. Its three domes are made of glass. The palace was built during the rule of His Royal Highness Jam Ranjitsinhji. A must see for all tourists.
Dams & Picnic Spots. Ranjit Sagar, Sasoi, Sapda, Vijarkhi are some of the dams located within 25-50 Kms radius of Valsura. There are excellent picnic spots like Balachadi with all the basic facilities available.
Khijadia Bird Sanctuary. The Bird Sanctuary is located 27 Kms from Valsura on the Rajkot highway. Famous for ‘Demoiselle Crane’ is home to water birds and attracts many seasonal migratory birds. To visit the sanctuary one should reach there before dawn. The Sanctuary is considered to be an important site for ecological research and education.
Vadinar. This is a small coastal station situated approximately 35 Kms from Valsura. A Coast Guard establishment CGS Vadinar situated here looks after the maritime interests of the region. The place has a beautiful park with picturesque surroundings. It is a nice picnic spot and prior arrangements can be made with Coast Guard and port authorities for comfortable stay.
